The plan was to recruit 5-10 volunteers to help us conduct some archive research around Polish migration to Waltham Forest. We popped an advert in The Guardian and suddenly 18 incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers appeared before us!
After a hasty scramble to find a new (larger) room for our training day, we brought them down to The Mill in E17. Here Jane Greenstock, our Research Manager, took them through a brief history of Polish migration, useful techniques on doing archive research and a briefing on the project we’re running.
Now the training is over our research volunteers will be visiting a wide range of museums across the capital and beyond. They’ll be reporting back on what they find there on this blog.
We’re expecting a fascinating and exciting trip through local Polish heritage. We hope you’ll join us along our journey.
