Today I visited The National Archives. It is a fantastic place although there is little information related to Lebus Factory or the Polish migration to Walthamstow.
Most of the documents that I’ve consulted regarded to legal proceedings from the Royal Commision on Awards to inventors, requested by Mr. Lebus in 1950 onwards.
The most interesting of all (documents) is a proposed visit to the USA by Herman Lebus of the De Havilland Aircraft Company. Mr. Lebus was to study woodworking techniques that could potentially be applied to the prouction of the Mosquito fighter-bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. The secret operation was named Mission Wood. Although the technical mission was ready to be accomplished it was aborted.
I couldn’t find any other additional useful information, unfortunately.
Tip: Don’t bring pencils with attached rubber, it’s not allowed to take them in.
